Subdivision Platting

Whenever a property is being prepared for development, including the construction of a residence or commercial structure, Texas law provides for the local governmental body such as the City or the County having jurisdiction over the subject area, the manner of enforcement of the State’s subdivision platting law. Essentially, it may require a property owner to file a plat with the appropriate governmental body and have it recorded in the County Clerk’s office for public record. A boundary and topographic survey is required initially for this process to begin then, the plat is prepared and routed through the applicable reviewing agencies for approval.
